Percussions

Admission Requirements Preliminary studies: General musicality, very good hearing are welcome. Clapping on simple rhythms.

 

                                                                                   Modules of the lower level:

 

                                                                                        1st to 4th semester:

 

Introduction to the percussion instruments, keeping the flutes, first exercises on the small drum and two timpani, hand posture, proper sitting. Set up the instruments, get to know the various percussion instruments. "Stickcontrol" by L. Stones, exercises by Prof. Richard Hochrainer, textbook by Wassiljew and teaching materials by Prof. Karl Svec.

                                                                                          5.u. 6th semester:

 

Continuation of the Stickcontrol and the drumming exercises by Wassiljew, R. Hochrainer. In addition, the textbook by E. Keune begins. In the field of timpani training: Schlägelhaltung, the voices, schools: E. Keune, R. Hochrainer.

 

                                                                                           7.u. 8th semester:

 

Continuation of studies for small drum and timpani. Schools: E. Keune and R. Hochrainer, teaching materials by K. Svec. If you have special gifts, you can skip one of the previous years. Transfer exam or entrance examination to the conservatory: Studies for small drum and timpani. E. Keune and R. Hochrainer, teaching materials by K. Svec. Completed general music theory and ear training

 

                                                                               Modules of the upper level: 1.u. 2

 

semesters: Continuation of lessons on the small drum and timpani. Schools: Wassiljew (small drum to end), exercises for small drum by R. Hochrainer. Exercises for Timpani by R. Hochainer. As well as E. Keune: snare drum and timpani.

 

                                                                                          3.u. 4th semester:

 

Continuation of the schools as in the first year. Furthermore, technical exercises and scales for and on the mallets (mallets) such as xylo-vibra and marimbaphone.
 

 

                                                                                          5.u. 6th semester:

 

Krüger: Beginning of the orchestral studies of a lighter degree of difficulty. Goldenberg: Beginning of orchestral studies for small drum and mallets (Mallets). Further J.S. Bach: violin sonatas, small preludes - "single" - (on stick games). R. Hochrainer: Etudes for Timpani 2 and 3 Extended studies with the tambourine, the triangle, the cymbals, the bass drum, the castanets and all the various percussion instruments. Beginning of the exercises and basic knowledge of mallets. Textbooks by R. Hochrainer, K. Svec and the Goldenberg-Method On the xylophone, the vibraphone and the marimbaphone the following teaching contents are to be carried out: All major and minor scales and three- and four-sound decompositions Easy to medium performance pieces as well as exercises in the ensemble.

 

                                                                                             7.u. 8th semester:

 

Continuation of all orchestral studies on all instruments of the schools: Goldenberg, Krüger, Keune, Knauer. Lecture Pieces: Sonatinas, Sonatas and Solos (on mallets). Ensemble playing in as diverse a cast as possible, as well as its organization and rehearsal. Entrance exam: Works or orchestral studies and solis of the previously elaborated material: An étude or a performance piece for Small drum Timpani Xylo or vibra or marimba Three heavy orchestral parts on timpani, small Drum and a bar game Three ensemble pieces as a soloist

                                                                                           9.u. 10th semester:

 

Continuation of all orchestral studies on all instruments. Orchestral Pieces from works by A. Bruckner, G. Mahler, M. Mussorgsky, M. Ravel, C. Debussy, N. Rimsky-Korsakow, M. Reger, R. Strauss etc. Schools additionally: R. Hochrainer Timpani 4, W. Veigl: Etudes for xylophone and vibraphone Study of solo concerts and recital pieces, ensemble playing, orchestra. 11.u. 12th semester: Repetition of the material of the 5th year, refinement of the playing technique. Preparation of the certified final exam program. Certified Final Exam Requirements: A difficult etude for each small drum timpani Xylophone, vibra-bwz. marimba A difficult sonata or a performance piece A solo concert Orchestral Studies: M. Ravel: Bolero (duty) R. Strauss: Burlesque (compulsory) N. Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherezade L.V. Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 Three more passages in opera and concert literature The certified final exam has to be taken in two parts, namely an internal and an internal committee examination.
