Jazz Saxophone

Reception: Sufficient technical playability on the instrument. Suitable tooth growth and appropriate lip formation

 

                                                                      Modules of the sub u. Middle School:

 

                                                                                          6 semesters:

 

Are intended as preparatory jubilees for the jazz section. With special talent and qualitative progress of playability, a vintage can be skipped. Teaching materials: Oliver Nelson: Simple etudes, first improvisation exercises, phrasing exercises. B. J. Rizzo: Readin Jazz, Easy Jazz Etudes (Advance Busle) classical Etudes (Mule, Lacour etc.) and specific jazz style directions. Care of the various conventional scales and Triad partitions. From the 2nd year onwards in the middle studies: One ensemble obligation per year; "Swing" / "Be Bop". Entrance exam requirements: Conventional major and minor scales over the entire range of the instrument as well Three and four sound decompositions 2 Études on the difficulty of Oliver Nelson Improvisation with an existing rhythm group (simple standard or blues) Completed General Music Theory and Ear Training I

 

                                                                                Modules of the upper level:

 

                                                                                          1.u.2. Semester:

 

Scales, chords, e.g. Joe Viola: The Technique of the Saxophone, Vol. I, Tonbildungsübungen, Sigurd Rascher: Top Tones for Saxophone, Breathing Technique, Neck technique, grip and finger technique, flexibility exercises. Etudes from the classic range: Mule, Lacour, Ferling; Oliver Nelson School and others in the comparable and higher level of difficulty. - Development of repertoire works.

 

 

                                                                                          3.u.4. Semester:

 

Scales & amp; Modes, Cords & amp; Progressions Joe Viola: The Technique of the Saxophone, Vol. II Flexibility, extended Phrasierungsstudium, style exercises, improvisations z. B. Elements of the Jazz, Language for the improvising improviser, sheet reading exercises, development of Repertoire - by heart - e.g. Charly Parker Entrance exam: Knowledge of the teaching contents of the 1st and 2nd year A transcribed improvisation Improvisation of a theme with rhythm group An Etude from the study of the 2nd year

                                                                                           5.u.6. Semester:

 

Scales & amp; Modes, Chords & amp; Progressions, exercises for flexibility, style, Phrasing exercises, improvisation exercises, sheet play exercises. Development of the Repertoires, e.g. Lennie Niehaus: Studies, Vol. 2 Joe Viola: Vol. III (Rhythm), B. Mintzer: Jazz & amp; Funk Etudes, Blues & amp; Funk Etudes, playing solo transcriptions.

 

                                                                                           7.u.8. Semester:

 

Technical studies by Oliver Nelson, Lennie Niehaus Vol. 3, sheet play studies, style exercises, Improvisation, Chords & amp; Progressions and development of the repertoire in the comparable Difficulty. Preparation of the certified final exam program. Certified Final Exam Requirements: 3 exercises from Oliver Nelson (by heart) 2 exercises from Lennie Niehaus, Vol. 3 Sheet reading exercises from the Swing and Latin area Three jazz standards with rhythm group of different styles (by heart) Quitting a solo part in a big band formation From a shortlist of 30 standards, 10 must be memorized at the diploma exam can be played.

 

The certified final exam is in two parts, namely in a committee internal and one commissional public examination.
